Pet Nutrition
The nutritional status of cats and dogs is a very important indicator of their health and welfare and should be assessed by veterinarians as part of a holistic approach to veterinary care. We believe daily nutrition is the single most important thing you can do to enrich and lengthen the special relationship you have with your pet.
Feeding a high quality diet is one of the most important things you, as a pet owner, can do to keep your pet healthy and active. But what constitutes a high quality pet food and how can you tell if your pet is receiving the nutrition he needs to thrive?
A high quality diet is one that is complete and balanced, containing all of the nutrients necessary to support your dog’s body functions. There are six nutrient groups that are important for all pets: proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water.
At Ipswich Vet Group, we are fortunate enough to have Dr Scott Campbell, an Australian Nutrition Specialist, who strongly believes in both products Royal Canin and Hills Science Diet. At all three clinics we stock these products and recommend all pets be fed these products.
Not only do these two brands cater for all ages, breeds and sizes, they also specifically target some medical problems and can often offer a nutritional alternative to medication.
